free agent zero?

our boyy gilbert has opted out of his last year of the wizard's contract, and i'm really not sure how i feel about this. gil is undeniably a great player, but i don't think the wizards need him to succeed because we probably had the best chemistry of the season without him while having caron/antawn lead the pack.

needless to say, gil has done great things for the wizards, given us the exposure we need and leading us to the playoffs, but i think i feel him on dipping out. wizards have done their best for him, but i think he wants to be able to exceed the first round of the playoffs and he sure has the talent to do so. it may be the time for him to join another team with fresher, younger players and set up a small dynasty before he hitts retirement age. i'm sitting here waiting for him to update his blog so i can find answers that many NBA fans are seeking, why and where to?

btw, be on the look out for the Celtics taking their third victory of the finals tonight!

i feel u on this. i feel like the wizards will never win a championship wiht gilbert arenas becuase hes always been too much of a ball hog. we should just let him go and draft someone like ty lawson

nah b your wrong about this. Gil is the best player on the team, hes not that much of a ball hog. When your best asset is a scorer, you should pass the ball off every play? Gil helps the team by shooting a lot because he makes a lot of them and gets to the line consistently.

plus gil already stated for a long time he was going to opt out, its just business. The only reason the wizards aren't contenders is because of health, mark my words they stay healthy for ONE season they will go to the ECF or farther.

yea whoever anonymous is is right. does everyone forget how we were 1st in the east when we had a healthy lineup, and how we had our best defeat against the best team in the nba with gilbert on the team. he's our most clutch player and the superstar that you need on a team, like kobe and others. who else would put up 60 on kobe? you can't just kick him off the team because he was battling health issues. we need a great scorer because when the defense isn't going well, who's there to score? we have great players, we just need a healthy season and a good center.

we don't need gilbert at all, we beat Celtics back-to-back without him and caron at the top.

look at where the celtics are now, fighting for the title, and we are one of the few teams that contributed to the celtics 16th loss season.

if we can get a nice 4/5, then we are straight for the following seasons.

we dont have consistent outside shooting. the wiz have great players, but we dont have an extreme outside threat

agree with jesse, wizards still need gilbert as much as they need caron and jamison. while they did defeat the celtics 3 times in the regular season, it wasn't so much the absence of gilbert as it was that the Wizards are the celtic's "achilles heel." like the cavaliers to the wizards, the wizards are just consistent in defeating the celtics for whatever reason.

gilbert is still their biggest asset on offense and their most consistent scorer. i doubt jamison and caron can carry the entire offensive load by themselves. jamison is a great rebounder and decent shooter, but you forget that without gilbert we had a huge gap left at the PG position. gilbert is still the wiz's go-to-guy at all places on the field, whether from outside shooting or driving in from the paint

I don't see why yall are arguing. With him or without him the wizards are good, it is all about our lack of center. Brendon just aint cutting it down low. I will give him that he a career season last year, but his career seasons don't match up with any other centers normal seasons.
